Lower School Music

In the Lower School general music program, students experience the world through music and movement. Using the Orff-Schulwerk approach to teaching music through song, instruments, and motion, our Lower School students learn about different music cultures and how to make music themselves. Through a large variety of xylophones, marimbas, recorders, and percussion instruments, students learn how to feel, read and perform music.

Lower School students perform at our Grandparents Day celebration, Christmas Concert, and the end-of-year Lower School Fine Arts Festival. These performances are wonderful windows into the music classroom. Attending a performance clearly shows the excitement and enjoyment that the students experience each time they step into the classroom.
