Dear Parents, As we move through a very busy spring season, we find ourselves focused upon the completion of the school year. My editorial below reports on those teachers who are departing, the new faculty we have hired thus far, as well as my thoughts on parent involvement and the future of Christian community here at ACA.

Dear Parents, For the last few months Mrs. Linda Brown, Director of Academic Support, has been writing articles for the “Pass Perspectives” section of Between the Lions. Mrs. Brown’s role and the academic support that the PASS (Programs for Academic Support and Success) program provides are pivotal to our mission at ACA. This month her article is taking the place of mine. If you have not made a habit of reading Mrs. Brown’s articles please take the time to do so. We all have a lot to learn about the portion of our school family served by PASS.

Dear Parents, Each year, the Fine Arts Committee sponsors a special music event in order to showcase artistic excellence for our students and parents. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, April 19 at 7:00 p.m. You and your family have a tremendous opportunity to be entertained and inspired by the Annie Moses Band.

Dear Parents, As our children grow and mature, they face many opportunities and threats. Consider the increasing pervasiveness of “popular culture” in our children’s lives. Pop culture offers many enjoyable opportunities. But it also threatens to rob our children of the ideas and habits that matter most. How can we as parents navigate in this tricky culture?

Dear Parents, This past week Bill George handed me two things: a book entitled Serving God on the Christian School Board by Roy W. Lowrie, Jr. and Roy L. Lowrie and a request to challenge you to engage in the work God is doing at ACA. The first chapter of Lowrie’s book states, “The Christian school stands at the intersection of two things that God loves-children and truth.” As school parents, we are responsible for protecting and defending our children and truth. How? We protect the truth and our children in the faculty we hire, the curriculum we select, the way we use and conduct ourselves in the facilities on our campus. So, would you be willing to invest your time in this endeavor? First, some background.
